Northern Chile shaken by earthquake

SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) -- A 6.5-magnitude earthquake has rattled a sparsely populated area of northern Chile. There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake's epicenter was located about 55 miles west of Calama in northern Chile.

The earthquake was felt most strongly in the northern cities including Iquique, Alto Hospicio and Pica.

Chile's national emergency office says no emergencies have been reported related to the quake.
