The incident took place at 9 a.m. local time (3 a.m. ET) at the offices of Kronospan, a manufacturer of wood products in the village of Menznau, about 30 kilometers (19 miles) outside Lucerne.

(CNN) -- Several people were killed in a shooting at a wood manufacturing factory on the outskirts of the central Swiss city of Lucerne on Wednesday, police said.
The incident took place at 9:00 a.m. local (3:00 a.m. ET) at the offices of Kronospan, a manufacturer of wood products in the town of Menznau outside of Lucerne.
Police have cordoned off a broad area around the factory.
