If you collect coins, then NASA has the ultimate penny for your collection.
Curiosity, the rover currently exploring Mars, is carrying a 1909 "VDB" Lincoln Cent, according to Science.com.
According to the report, the coin is used as a calibration target for the robot's Mars Hand Lens Imager ( MAHLI) instrument.
In other Curiosity news, the rover recently snapped some new images of the Martian surface.
The photos are taken using a 2-megapixel MastCams and released on NASA's website.
