Jill Kelley: David Petraeus, Paula Broadwell affair allegations began with Tampa woman

SOUTH TAMPA, Fla. - There are new developments about the investigation of former CIA Director David Petraeus that ties a South Tampa woman to the discovery of Patraeus' extra marital affair.

Reports say harassing emails sent to 37-year-old Kelley were turned over to the FBI, and an investigation uncovered that the person who sent the emails, Paula Broadwell, was involved in an extra-marital affair with Patraeus.

Sunday evening, a woman who looked like Kelley was startled by cameras in her front lawn. She drove off without talking to reporters, but did release this statement:

"We and our family have been friends with General Petraeus and his family for over five years. We respect his and his family's privacy and want the same for us and our three children."

Realtor, Jim Walters, lives only a few doors down and says he helped the Kelley's sell a home in Hyde Park before they moved to Bayshore Boulevard.

 "They're great friends and they're great neighbors," Walters said.

Walters, along with several neighbors, were stunned by reports that Kelley informed the FBI she was receiving harassing e-mails from a woman. The FBI says that woman, Paula Broadwell, is Patreus' biographer. He  admitted to having an affair with her Friday and resigned from his position as CIA director.

The FBI has not released any information on the contents of the emails, only saying they were threatening in nature.

According to reports, Kelley is an Honorary Ambassador to Central Command, a volunteer position. Walters says the couple  is very active in the community and their relationship with General Petraeus is not surprising. Walters said, "They've worked very hard."

The Associated Press reports another person, who knows Kelley and Petraeus, confirmed their friendship and says she saw him often. Tonight, we've also learned that Kelley's legal team includes Abbe Lowell, who represented former presidential candidate John Edwards.
