How much would you pay to reach out to a stranger on Facebook?

The social networking site is testing out a plan to charge people to send messages to folks outside their network.

Most important messages go straight to your Facebook inbox.

But there's a second class of messages, including potential spam, that the site puts in the little-known "Other" folder.

The company will now allow people to avoid the dreaded "Other" folder and have their messages show up directly in the recipient's inbox -- if they pay a fee.

According to the tech blog All-Things-D, the cost to send one message that way will be a dollar.

In a post announcing the changes, Facebook points out that this could be helpful for people who want to contact someone about a job -- and that charging could also help cut down on unwanted spam.
