(CNN) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.8 struck the Canadian province of Ontario on Friday, the government said. The epicenter was Braeside, about 50 miles west of Ottawa, the nation's capital.
According to the CBC, residents said the shaking lasted 30 seconds.
Some people have also reported feeling an aftershock after the main event, the CBC said.
