Can whales speak like a person?
A white beluga whale known as NOC sounded like he could, mimicking human conversation by blurping air through his blowhole, according to NBCNews.
Scientists say NOC is a strange case, and marked the first time they could study a marine mammal in the very act of "talking" like a human, according to the report.
Before his death, NOC was part of the U.S. Navy's Marine Mammal Program in San Diego, the report states.
According to NBCNews.com, NOC was captured in 1977 in Canada's Hudson Bay and brought down to California to work with researchers and divers.
