WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A West Palm Beach woman is behind bars, accused in a late night carjacking and police chase Tuesday. That chase ended with the suspect's vehicle crashing near an Interstate 95 exit ramp.

Police said Amber Perrotta, 23, and a male suspect, who has not been apprehended, pulled a male out of his car and beat him just off Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach.

The suspects then drove off, police said, running over the victim's foot on the way out. Investigators said, at some point, the male suspect got out of the Honda CRV and Perrotta headed for Interstate 95. She crashed the vehicle at the Blue Heron Boulevard exit ramp and was arrested.

Perrotta told police she had been the victim of a sexual assault and that she was only trying to get away from her assailant. Perrotta is being held without bond, charged with carjacking. The male suspect is still at large. The male victim, identified as Franklin Ferrera, was treated for injuries on his head and foot.
