Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Regional Everglades airboat rescued a woman stranded in the Everglades nine miles west of Holiday Park on Monday night.
The woman, whom authorities did not identify, could be the same person Miramar police reported missing earlier Monday.
"Earlier we found a car that was abandoned [at Holiday Park] that appeared to have gone off the levee and we found a person who presumably belongs to the car," said Mike Jachles, public information officer for Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue.
Jachles said the unit's airboat crew had the woman on board and was taking her back to Holiday Park — about 30 minutes away from where she was found.
Earlier Monday, Miramar police located a 2005 gray Infiniti G35 at Holiday Park, 21940 Griffin Road, that belongs to Sonia Jamieson, 41, of Miramar.
Jamieson was last seen leaving her home around 2 a.m. Sunday, according to police.
Jachles said the woman was located because she was screaming for help. She appears to have no external injuries, but has been exposed to the water and cool weather.
"She'll be transported to a nearby hospital," Jachles said.
It's not clear how the woman got nine miles west of where her car was found, but Jachles said a levee gate may have been breached, letting water — and possibly the woman — farther out into the Everglades.
