Woman charged with hate crime after spitting on shoppers at Walmart

PALM BAY, Fla. - A woman in Palm Bay, originally from Saudi Arabia, is being charged with a hate crime after allegedly spitting on shoppers at Walmart.

"Oh is was wet, it was in my ear. I had a gob in my ear and it came down my face and on my shirt. I used a whole packet of wet wipes to clean up because I was grossed out," recalls Terry Rakowski, one of the victims in the spitting incident.

Nuha Mohammed Al-Doaifi told police that she was spitting on people because quote, "Americans are pushing us around".

The woman's attorney says she is a student studying to be a civil engineer at the Florida Institute of Technology, according to WESH in Orlando.

Spitting on a person is considered a misdemeanor. The charge has been elevated to a hate crime, which is a third degree felony.

She's currently in the Brevard County jail.
