PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. - A female high school student was shot in the neck Friday morning near a school in Broward County, according to the local sheriff's office.
The shooting occurred outside Watkins Elementary School in Pembroke Park around 6:30 a.m.
The sheriff's office received a call advising a teenage girl, about 15- or 16-years-old, had been shot around SW 52 Ave. near Hallanadale Beach Boulevard.
A family member transported her to Jackson North hospital. The victim was then taken to Ryder Trauma with non life-threatening injuries.
BSO detectives are investigating.
