WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Walmart will hire up to 700 temporary employees in South Florida this year for the holiday season.
The company is currently hiring for cashiers, inventory management associates and stockers. Demand for employees is strongest on the third shift, which usually runs from midnight to 8 a.m., said Bill Wertz, spokesman for Walmart.
Seasonal employees work part time and on average get up to 30 hours per week.
Last year the company hired 657 seasonal employees.
There are 20 Walmart locations in the South Florida area. There are more than 9,600 Walmart stores in 28 countries. With fiscal year 2011 sales of $419 billion, Walmart employs 2.1 million people worldwide.
