Volusia County motorcycle deputy hit by truck

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- (AP) Authorities say a central Florida motorcycle deputy was hospitalized after being hit by a truck.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office reports that the deputy was on patrol in Ormond-by-the-Sea Monday evening when he was hit.

Florida Highway Patrol reports that the deputy was airlifted to a Daytona Beach hospital.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports that the deputy's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
