PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. - Two people were killed in a police-involved shooting Wednesday night in Pembroke Pines, police said.
The first officer to arrive at the house, following a 911 call at about 8 p.m., quickly reported that shots had been fired, including by the officer, said Sgt. Al Xiques of the Pembroke Pines Police Department.
The house is in the Chapel Oaks complex in the Chapel Trail subdivision, near the intersection of Pines Boulevard and 186th Avenue.
The two victims were a boyfriend and girlfriend, Xiques said, and the girlfriend made the 911 call.
Dozens of neighbors milled around in the street, trying to learn what happened. One couple, a man and a woman, stood hugging by the police crime scene tape, crying and saying the victims were their close friends.
