(AP) — Police say a large oak tree fell on a central Florida house, killing a woman who was asleep in the bedroom.

Sanford police say the tree fell around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Orlando television station 13 News reports the woman's fiancé was in another part of the house and escaped without injury. Rescue crews were also able to rescue the couple's cat.

Police say it took several hours for crews to make their way into the house because the tree was so large.

Investigators say they don't know what caused the tree to fall.

The name of the woman has not been released.
