HOLLYWOOD, Fla. - A 17-year-old boy drowned after falling into a Hollywood canal while playing on a rope swing with friends.
Hollywood Fire Rescue spokesman Joe Medina told the Miami Herald the teens were swimming near the makeshift rope swing Sunday evening when they noticed their friend was having trouble.
He went under and didn't come back up.
The teens were swimming in the canal behind Oakwood Plaza shopping center near Interstate 95 in Hollywood.
Someone called 911 about 7:30 p.m. Divers found the teen's body about 11 p.m.
The teen's name has not been released.
