POLK COUNTY, Fla. - A portion of Highway 60 was closed this morning following a deadly head-on crash involving a semi tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle.

The crash occurred west of Indian Lakes Estates, west of 630 on Highway 60. The crash sparked a fire.

Both the driver of the semi and the driver of the passenger vehicle were killed.

Preliminary information indicates the driver of the passenger car may have been driving the wrong way.

As of 9:30 a.m., both lanes of traffic were still shut down in both directions.

Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes.
