The Space shuttle Discovery makes its final journey Tuesday.

Crews have been getting the shuttle ready to leave its home at Kennedy Space Center for the last time.

The shuttle is hitched on top of a modified jumbo jet.

Tuesday, it will head to the Smithsonian in Chantilly, Virginia where it will go on display beginning on Thursday.

This will be the first of NASA's retired shuttle fleet to be in a museum.
