MARATHON , Fla. (AP) — Authorities say three people were rescued when a single-engine plane crashed into the water off the Florida Keys.

The accident happened Monday near Marathon.

Miami television station WPLG reports boaters helped rescue the people aboard the plane.

Officials say the plane's occupants were not injured. The television station reports they were taken to shore by a local fisherman while other boaters pulled the plane into shallow water.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash. FAA records show the plane is owned by Conch Air Corp., based in Marathon.
