ANNA MARIA ISLAND, Fla. - For the second time in a week, a man was bitten by a shark on Anna Maria Island, a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report confirms.

Javier Perez was wade fishing at Bean Point with his family when he was attacked by the shark at 1:12 Sunday afternoon.

When Perez finished fishing, he dumped his bait into the water.

While standing in waist deep water, a shark bit Perez on the back of his left thigh.

Perez’s family waved down a passing boater who took him to the Road and Reel pier.

He was taken to Blake Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, including a “flap-type” wound and scratches on his leg.
