BREVARD COUNTY — A Vero Beach woman was killed in an accident on Interstate 95 south of Palm Bay Wednesday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened on the rain-slicked southbound lanes a few miles north of Micco Road at 12:20 p.m., troopers said.
William Murphy, 73, of Vero Beach, was driving a Chevrolet van when he lost control of the vehicle, which slid off the west side of I-95 at mile marker 165 and struck a tree, the report states.
His passenger, 78-year-old Rosemary Murphy, died at the scene, paramedics said. William Murphy was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne for serious injuries.
