KEY WEST, Fla. - Yo, dude.
You're supposed to cover your face — wearing those shorts on your head was a disguise fashion faux paux.
Deputies say Eli Baldemar Escalera walked into a bank on Stock Island near Key West wearing a pair of shorts on his head and handed a teller a note which said “give me what are 20s and 50s,” according to a news release from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
A nearby bank manager watched as the teller asked “what do you want?” At that point, Escalera said “never mind” and walked out of the bank, according to the report.
The manager called authorities and described the man.
A deputy saw a man fitting Escalera’s description who was taking a pair of dark colored pants off. When he saw the deputy he jumped on his bike and fled, but was caught a short time later. The discarded clothing was taken as evidence, according to the release.
