DELAND, Fla. -- A central Florida woman faces multiple charges after kicking her 66-year-old mother and punching an 8-year-old who tried to defend her.
Volusia County Sheriff's deputies say that later on Sunday 41-year-old Rebecca Jenks later hit an inmate wearing handcuffs at the jail. She's charged with battery, child abuse, battery on a person detained in jail and driving with a license that's been revoked.
Deputies say Jenks was heavily intoxicated Sunday. The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports the mother tried to calm her down but started kicking her. When the child tried to defend the older woman, Jenks pushed her and punched her in the back of the neck.
Once deputies managed to get her into a holding cell, she slipped out of handcuffs and slapped an inmate.
