Pinellas County teachers take free gun safety course: Currently illegal for them to carry on campus

SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. - Some Pinellas County teachers got a lesson in firearms this weekend in Safety Harbor, Florida.
After the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, a firearms instructor reached out to some of his friends who were teachers to see if they were interested.
The course was so popular, he had to find a bigger venue to hold the class.
Some teachers said they would feel safer if they were able to carry a gun on campus.
Right now it is illegal for anyone other than a law enforcement officer to carry a gun on campus.
