(CNN) -- Penny Palfrey, 49, has ended her bid to become the first person to swim 103 miles from Cuba to the Florida Keys without any assistance, her team said early Sunday morning.
The Australian-British dual citizen was pulled out after more than 40 hours in the water because "a strong southeast current that made it impossible for her to continue her swim," her team said.
