Usually big lottery winners take their time, getting their affairs in order. But all four of Broward County's newest millionaires have already trekked up to Tallahassee to claim their loot.

They all hit five of five white balls in Wednesday's Powerball drawing, which is good for $1 million.

The lottery announced their names Monday evening.

They are: Dale Colburn, 43, of Plantation; Paul Brangan, 49, of Coral Springs; Pedro Rivera, 40, of Weston; and Mario Chiong 67, of Pembroke Pines

Colburn says it’s still sinking in that he actually won $1 million, but he’s very happy. “This money comes at a great time because we have two children who will be entering college soon,” he told lottery officials.

Each winner hit at a Publix in their hometown: at 170 S. Flamingo Road, Pembroke Pines; 2465 Glades Circle, Weston; 8160 Wiles Road, Coral Springs; and 225 S. Flamingo Road, Plantation. Brangan player doubled his winnings to $2 million by purchasing a Power Play ticket.

While multi-state lottery game is sold in Florida and 43 other states and districts across the United States, there were only seven $1 million winners on Wednesday -- and no others in Florida.

The next drawing is 10:59 p.m. Wednesday with a $50 million jackpot.

Florida has the strongest Powerball with Power Play sales of any U.S. lottery, exceeding more than $1.5 billion, yielding $617 million in education funding to date, lottery officials say.
