MELBOURNE BEACH, Fla. - Michael Adler was bitten by a shark Saturday morning just north of Sebastian Inlet, according to Lieutenant Don Slayman, Public Information Officer for Brevard County Fire Rescue.
Slayman says the shark attack happened shortly after 11:00 a.m. in the 9300 block of A1A in Melbourne Beach.
The shark bit through the teenager's ankle, says Slayman.
Brevard County Fire Rescue responded and transported the teenager to Holmes Regional Medical Center where he had surgery to repair some tendons. His recovery time will be around 6 weeks.
