Miami police officer charged after a 120 mph chase

A Miami Police officer is accused of leading the Florida Highway Patrol on a 120 mile-per-hour chase.

The F-H-P says it tried to pull over a marked police cruiser the morning of October 11th.

At first, no luck.

Authorities say the officer wouldn't stop. Minutes later, the F-H-P pulled Fausto Lopez over, and took him into custody at gunpoint.

They say he was rushing to a part-time job.

The F-H-P released the officer, but not before giving him a reckless driving citation. Now, he's got a date in court.

Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado told elnuevoherald.com , "No one should drive 120 miles per hour." 

Manuel Orosa, acting chief of police, told El Nuevo Herald that any person driving at that speed is seriously endangering public safety. He said he has ordered an investigation to find out more.
