MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - A Florida couple accused of torturing and killing their 10-year-old adopted daughter wants to be tried separately.

The judge in Carmen and Jorge Barahona's case is going to make the decision.

Their daughter, Nubia, was found soaked in chemicals in the back of Jorge Barahona's truck in February.

Prosecutors say Nubia's twin brother, Victor, was starved, tortured and beaten -- he's now living in Texas.

The little girl's death cast a harsh light on the Florida's Department of Children and Families because there had been a number of abuse complaints against the couple.
