HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (AP) -- Eleven students and a teacher at a South Florida high school are being transported to local hospitals after coming down with a rash while in class.
Broward County Public Schools officials say the students were all in the same classroom at McArthur High School in Hollywood on Wednesday morning when they started complaining about an itching rash.
Paramedics were called to the school and the students and teacher were being taken to local hospitals for examination as a precaution.
District spokeswoman Nadine Drew says the school is on lockdown and the entire second floor has been closed as authorities investigate the cause.
