OCALA, Fla. — A 19-year-old north Florida man faces manslaughter charges after his longtime friend died from what authorities describe as a fatal punch.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office says Mathew Gunter punched 23-year-old Travis Henshaw in the face Thursday during an altercation over a girlfriend.
The Ocala Star-Banner reports Henshaw hit his head on the side of a door and on a concrete floor. He died Thursday at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
During an interview with the newspaper, Gunter said he acted out of anger and didn't intend to hurt his friend.
Gunter fled after the incident but deputies caught up with him and he admitting hitting Henshaw.
He remained in the Marion County Jail early Friday.
