BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. -- Before dawn Wednesday, a young man was shot and wounded in Broward County on I-95, possibly by one of the passengers in the car he was traveling in, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
Authorities said they are searching for Antoinne Robert Hester, 22, of West Palm Beach.
Hester has a record dating to 2006, records show.
In 2010, he was found not guilty of shooting into an occupied vehicle and attempted first-degree murder, according to the Palm Beach County Clerk of Court's office.
In Wednesday's incident, 20-year-old Bevins Bennett of Riviera Beach was shot while inside a green Kia Soul traveling north on I-95 somewhere between Sunrise Boulevard and Sample Road at about 5:40 a.m., BSO said.
The driver sped Bennett to the emergency room at North Broward Medical Center.
There, the shooter got out of the car and ran off, according to BSO.
Bennett was said to be in critical condition.
Anyone with information about Hester's whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff's office at 954-765-4321 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS.
A reward of up to $1,000 was posted for information leading to an arrest.
