HOLMES BEACH, Fla. -- Holmes Beach cops say Laurie Miles Pardee fired a shot from his front porch into what authorities believe was either a white crane or great heron before beating it and finally stomping on it to death, according to an arrest affidavit from the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Pardee then reportedly discarded the large sea bird in the bay.
Three of Pardee's neighbors witnessed the incident, which authorities wrote caused "excessive and repeated infliction of unnecessary pain or suffering," the report stated.
Now he's a jailbird.
Pardee was charged with Felony cruelty to an Animal and Discharging a Firearm with City Limits.
