DeLAND, Fla. - A DeLand man has been charged with a strange crime.

Authorities say 55 year old William Hendrix discovered a dead body in his home, but decided not to call police.

After Hendrix found the 46 year old dead man above the garage in the home where he is staying, authorities say he continued to do yard work.

According to WESH in Orlando, he even poured bleach on the deceased acquaintance to mask the smell. Hendrix had told the man that he could stay in the room.

After eight hours, Hendrix eventually notified his girlfriend, who owns the home. He said that he was afraid of how she would react to the news.

The girlfriend immediately reported the dead body to the police, and Hendrix was arrested for failing to report it.

Investigators do not suspect foul play.
