ODESSA, Fla. (AP) -- Three people are recovering following a crash with a Tampa police cruiser.
The crash happened Sunday evening in the northbound lanes of Suncoast Parkway.
Authorities say Officer Kris Babino was driving home from work in his police cruiser when the vehicle ahead of him suddenly slowed down, turned toward the grassy median and stopped, blocking the inside lane.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash was unavoidable for Babino. Both cars received extensive damage.
Babino was taken to the hospital with a possible broken left hand. The two occupants of the other car were also taken to the hospital, one with a possible broken hip. The other was disoriented and had minor injuries.
FHP says the officer was not at fault.
