ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. - Authorities say John R. Springer, 27, crossed the line with one of his underage volleyball players, sending and receiving explicit text messages, which is considered child pornography.
Springer started teaching and coaching girls varsity volleyball at Royal Palm Beach High School in August.
School district police began investigating on November 2. Springer was fired November 7. The district did not have to cite a reason for the termination, because Springer was still in his probation period.
"Yeah we heard, everybody was talking like in the beginning," said senior Cicilyia Savio.
As class let out Friday afternoon, Springer's arrest seemed like old news to students.
But parents told us, they're not happy they were never notified of the investigation.
"It's a little upsetting when I saw it this morning on the news, I was shocked to hear that," said Robert Marte, a parent.
No one answered at Springer's Royal Palm Beach home Friday afternoon.
His personnel file from the school district is clean, with the exception of a suspended license.
But now -- his record faces something much more serious.
The school district did not want to comment on an ongoing investigation.
