POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -- The Broward Sheriff's Office Internal Affairs and the Public Corruption Task Force arrested a Broward County Sheriff's deputy on Friday for possession of a controlled substance.
Investigators received a tip that Detective John Brindle, 45, was purchasing oxycodone pills without a prescription in the city of Oakland Park.
On Friday, January 25, detectives observed Brindle's movements and once he was in possession of the pills, he was pulled over near I-95 and Commercial Boulevard and taken into custody.
According to a statement by the Broward County Sheriff's Office, Brindle used his position as a BSO detective and intimidation to obtain eight oxycodone pills.
Brindle had been working as a detective for the city of Pompano Beach for seven years.
He is currently suspended with pay pending prosecution by the State Attorney's Office.
