(AP) — A human skull and military explosives were among the items found in a South Daytona home.

Police Lt. Ron Wright told the Orlando Sentinel Tuesday the elderly occupants had moved to an assisted living facility and an estate service was hired to clean out the home.

Wright says workers called police when they found plastic explosive in a shed, electric blasting caps and smokeless gunpowder. Wright says workers also found anti-tank cartridges and military composition explosives that likely date back to World War II.

The Volusia County Medical Examiner was called in when workers found a human skull and bones, while the hazardous team collected liquid mercury and lithium found.

Wright says at one time it was legal to possess many of the items found at the home.
