Horse groom dies after being kicked by horse at International Polo Club in Wellington

WELLINGTON, Fla. - A horse groom is dead after being kicked in the chest by a horse at the International Polo Club Friday afternoon, according to Teri Barbera, spokeswoman Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

The accident happened at the 3667 120 ^th Ave South in Wellington at 2:46 p.m., during a polo match.

The man was airlifted by Trauma Hawk to Delray Medical Center in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities say the man was a groom for polo player Sebastian Merlos. His identity has not yet been released.
