WELLINGTON, Fla. - A horse groom is dead after being kicked in the chest by a horse at the International Polo Club Friday afternoon, according to Teri Barbera, spokeswoman Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

The accident happened at the 3667 120 th Ave South in Wellington at 2:46 p.m., during a polo match.

The man was airlifted by Trauma Hawk to Delray Medical Center in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities say the man was a groom for polo player Sebastian Merlos. His identity has not yet been released.
