Teen says he blacked out, stabbed grandmother 93 times, shot her with crossbow, report states

A 67-year-old woman was found brutally murdered and authorities say her grandson is to blame.

Gloria Helfrich, 67, was stabbed almost 100 times, struck in the face with a pipe wrench and shot in the back of her head with a crossbow, according to Lake Wales authorities, reports the Orlando Sentinel.

Jasper Aristotle Smiddie, 19, was arrested Wednesday in Lake Wales and faces a first-degree murder charge, according to the Sentinel report.

Polk County deputies told the Sentinel that Smiddie called his father and confessed to killing Helfrich, with whom he lived in a home with. Smiddie's father reported his son to authorities.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Smiddie told his father that he had "blacked out" woke up hours later "with blood all over his hands and his grandmother."
