Gov. Rick Scott to put state salaries on website

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Gov. Rick Scott wants taxpayers to know how much state employees are being paid and the amount of retirement benefits when they exceed $100,000 a year.

The new Republican governor announced a new website Thursday, www.FloridaHasARightToKnow , which gives the public access to state employee salary information. It also allows the public to view six-figure retirement benefits for state and local employees with personal information redacted. It contains information on contract records, including those under review along with information on rulemaking procedures.

Scott, who is recommending that state workers begin contributing to their retirement accounts, says the website provides taxpayers with information on how their tax dollars are being spent and other unspecified information about state government.
