ORLANDO — George Zimmerman is considering a defamation lawsuit against NBC over its reports about a phone call he made to police moments before he fatally shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
Zimmerman, a former neighborhood watch captain, has contacted another lawyer about a possible suit, his attorney said Thursday.
Each of the reports on either “Today” or NBC’s Miami station involve editing of Zimmerman’s phone call to a dispatcher that emphasizes his identification of Martin as a black male.
Three employees of NBC or the NBC-owned station lost their jobs because of the editing changes. An NBC spokeswoman declined to comment.
