HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. - Authorities have arrested a woman accused of driving away from a traffic stop with a Florida Highway Patrol trooper pinned to her SUV.

The trooper stopped Veronica Elder for going 57 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone on Summerfield Boulevard in Hillsborough County on Tuesday evening.

Elder did not have a driver's license and gave false information to the trooper, authorities said.

When the trooper ordered her out of her SUV, she sped off with the trooper's arm stuck in the window.

Elder reportedly drove 45 to 50 miles per hour for nearly a half mile with the trooper pinned to the door before slowing down and allowing the trooper to fall from the SUV.

The trooper had minor injuries and was treated and released from a hospital.

Troopers, members of Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Hillsborough County deputies took Elder into custody on Thursday, but not before she tried fleeing from them again, authorities said.

Elder is charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, felony fleeing and eluding, and driving on a suspended license.
