NAPLES, Fla. -- An Immokalee man was arrested after calling 911 10 times, asking for a ride to Mexico, deputies say.

Alvaro Francisco, 26, of the 100 block of Madison Avenue in Immokalee, was arrested just after midnight Saturday by Collier County sheriff’s deputies at his home after the 10th call to 911. He faces a misdemeanor charge of misuse of 911.

Each time he called, the report stated, he said he needed a ride to Mexico, his friend’s house or his boss’s house. Each time he was advised, according to the report, that those requests are not an emergency and do not require 911.

Francisco first dialed 911 at 8:16 p.m. Saturday and continued until 12:45 a.m. Sunday.

The responding deputy note in the report that Francisco smelled of alcohol.
