HOLLYWOOD, Fla. - Authorities say an 8-year-old girl was injured during a backyard fireworks display when she was hit in the head with a piece of concrete.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, an adult was using a cinder block to stabilize the fireworks Sunday night. The explosion sent pieces of concrete across the Hollywood yard, hitting the child about 30 to 40 feet away.

The girl was taken to a hospital. The sheriff's office says her injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

The Florida State Fire Marshal's office is investigating.
