JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Two adults were found dead following an apparent murder-suicide at a Jacksonville high school Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
Officers responded at 1:23 p.m. to reports of a person with a gun at Episcopal School of Jacksonville, sheriff's office spokeswoman Melissa Bujeda said. While officers were en route, they began to receive additional calls about shots being fired.
When officers arrived, they found one dead adult, followed by another. The second person is believed to have been the shooter.
Neither dead person was immediately identified, but authorities said no students were injured. The school was in initially placed on lockdown, but parents were later allowed to pick up their children.
Episcopal has about 900 students in grades 6-12. Its campus sits along the south bank of the St. Johns River in central Jacksonville.
School officials didn't immediately return calls for comment.
