TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities say more than 30 people were injured when the floor collapsed during a party at a Tallahassee apartment building.
Police spokeswoman Anitra Highland tells the Tallahassee Democrat that no one died when the floor collapsed just after 1:20 a.m. Sunday. She described most of the injuries as "broken bones and sprains."
The floor's collapse dropped partygoers from the second floor to the first floor in the Seminole Grand Apartments' clubhouse.
A Florida A&M University student at the party says the collapse was "like riding a roller coaster with no seat belts."
Highland says a dozen people were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Democrat reports that the Leon County Sheriff's Office, Leon County EMS and the Tallahassee police and fire departments responded to the scene.
