A shaggy dog wreaked havoc on Interstate 95 for several minutes about 7 p.m. Wednesday, as it ran across the I-95 northbound lanes near a Sunrise Boulevard exit ramp in Fort Lauderdale.
A police officer who happened to be on the highway turned on his cruiser's emergency lights, warning drivers to stop their vehicles. The dog, with its mouth agape, ran in circles across the lanes, then ran toward a grassy shoulder before disappearing.
Traffic returned to normal. There were no reports of crashes related to the interloper.
Though officials searched for the dog, it wasn't found. "As far as they know, the dog just ran away," said Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Mark Wysocky.
