MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - A portion of Miami Beach had to be evacuated Monday morning, after a mysterious white cylinder washed ashore.

The device was training mine from the U-S Navy.

A person found it while walking on the shore and contacted police.

Fire crews cleared everyone away from the area while a bomb squad checked it out.

Navy officials say the training mine has the potential to explode, but not as much as a regular mine.

The U-S Navy is investigating how it ended up there.
