FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a woman has died after being struck by a sheriff's deputy who was driving past a Pompano Beach hospital.
The woman's boyfriend told reporters that the woman had gone to the hospital because she had been having chest pains. He says that after the medical tests were completed, the couple left the hospital to get something to eat.
The man says they were crossing the street when a Broward Sheriff's deputy struck the woman.
The sheriff's office says the woman was pronounced dead at a Fort Lauderdale hospital early Wednesday. The woman's name has not been released.
